Community guidelines

A quiet corner of the internet — kept warm by real rules.

These guidelines govern the forums, group chats, and comments on live sessions. They’re plain on purpose. They’re what makes it safe to bring the real question you couldn’t ask anywhere else.

Why we have these

The house rules for a shared home.

A community isn’t warmed by algorithms. It’s warmed by people who show up kindly, honestly, and often. These guidelines describe the small shared discipline that keeps LoveSync feeling like a house you’d bring a real question into — instead of another internet room you scroll past.

They apply everywhere on the platform where members interact — forums, group chats, live-Q&A comments, replies to counsellor posts, and any surface added later. Members, verified counsellors, and staff all follow them.

The four commitments

What we ask of everyone here.

Bring your real self

Anonymous is fine. Pretending to be someone you’re not, or misrepresenting your qualifications, isn’t.

Be kind by default

Assume the person on the other side is doing their best. Disagree with ideas — not the person.

Ask before advising

Sometimes people want a listener, not a plan. “Are you looking for advice?” changes everything.

Report when you can’t fix it

You don’t have to solve it yourself. Reporting is quiet, fast, and goes to a real human.

How we keep it warm

The moderation you don’t always see.

Real-human moderation

Trained moderators review reports across our on-call window. No queue is left overnight. Serious concerns escalate to safety on-call immediately.

Verified counsellor replies

When a licensed counsellor replies in a public thread, it shows a verified badge and their real name. Members remain anonymous unless they choose otherwise.

Anonymous reporting

You can report anything from any surface without your report being visible to the person you’re reporting. We tell you when we’ve reviewed it.

Appeals, honestly

Every moderation decision can be appealed. Appeals go to a different moderator than the one who took the action, so a fresh pair of eyes reviews.

The lines

What’s not allowed.

Harassment. Personal attacks, slurs, targeted mocking, dogpiling, or repeated unwanted contact. Disagreement is welcome; cruelty isn’t. Content that dehumanises anyone based on race, gender, sexuality, faith, disability, age, or nationality is removed on sight.

Dating solicitations. LoveSync is a home for love, not a place to meet romantic or sexual partners. Sliding into DMs to flirt, asking for numbers, or turning a support thread into a pickup attempt breaks the trust the space runs on.

Self-promotion and spam. Members sharing what helped them is welcome. Coaches, therapists, and businesses promoting themselves to acquire clients, drop links repeatedly, or funnel people off-platform is not. Licensed counsellors on LoveSync always operate through their verified profile — never through DMs to strangers.

Sharing identifying information about others. Even in a support thread, don’t post someone else’s real name, workplace, address, photos, or private messages without their consent. When in doubt, describe the situation without identifying the person.

When something breaks a guideline

What actually happens.

You (or someone else) reports it. Every post, message, and reply has a Report control. Choose the reason that fits closest — you don’t need to write an essay. If you’re not sure, use “Something else”.

A real human reviews it. We aim to acknowledge every report within the same business day, and act on urgent ones far faster. We’ll take one of four actions: warn, hide, remove, or suspend. Serious or repeated violations can lead to permanent removal from the community.

Appeals are available. If you disagree with an action taken against your content, use the appeal link in the notification. A different moderator reviews. If we got it wrong, we say so, and reverse it.

The path a report takes

Report → review → action → appeal.

  1. Step 01

    01

    Someone reports

Anyone can report content or behaviour from anywhere it appears. Anonymous to the person reported.

  2. Step 02

    02

    A moderator reviews

Real humans, on our team, trained on these guidelines. Serious concerns triage to safety on-call within minutes.

  3. Step 03

    03

    Action taken

One of four: warn, hide, remove, or suspend. The person is told what happened and why, in plain language.

  4. Step 04

    04

    Appeal, if needed

A different moderator reviews. You’re not stuck with the first call — and neither are we.

How to reach us

For anything the report control doesn’t cover.

A promise

We’re in this with you.

These guidelines aren’t a licence for us to be arbitrary. They’re a shared agreement — one we hold ourselves to as much as any member. If we ever act inconsistently, tell us. We’ll fix it, and we’ll say so publicly when we get it wrong.

The community is only as warm as the small daily kindnesses of the people in it. Thank you for being here.
